New member - Paulv200

Greetings, I am Paul from Klapmuts in the Western Cape, I recently bought this sweet old lady from a garage in Stellenbosch (V200 1966), my main interest is VW Kombis, of which I have a few, (sorry !!!
eish), but I have always had
a love for Valiants from school boy days.
This car is a runner, but needs quite a bit of work, the engine is sweet but the metal worm has been busy over the years.
I would be interested in hearing from/meeting other Valiant owners in the Cape especially Paarl/Wellington/Stellenbosch areas.
Great site Fanie, thank you.
Cheers

Yeah, I read his comments regarding a roofrack and visor when the station wagon came on the market, I'm glad it's gone to a good home,
he is welcome to make contact with me. It is a genuine Stirling sun visor, the roofrack is also a Stirling but
should'nt be too hard to find one. Congrats Lau on a stunning car !!!!

Hi Lau, ja I'm from Durban, moved to the Cape six years ago, so I am "familiar" with Durban rust.
Thanks for the compliments re my V200, however, photos tend to tell lies now and then .....
She is also pretty rusted, would'nt be surprised if it also came from Durbs! It looks like she could have driven
straight out of the Transkei as a taxi with a couple of chickens on the roofrack!
My ph number is 082 417 4553 and you are welcome to visit any time you are back in the Cape, if you drive down in that beautiful station wagon it would be an added bonus !!!!!!!!! Flip that is one stunning car, classic man.
Cheers. Paul

Re: New member - Paulv200

Hey Paul - nice car!
There's a couple of them around here. I'm in Stellenbosch (Blaauklippen Road) and have a '64. Busy having a motor rebuilt for it at the moment. The one that's in there now uses about 1l/100kms (of oil!!) and it gets so bad the plugs are fouled and runs on four cylinders. Pulling them and cleaning every time becomes a chore. Strangely nowhere near as much smoke as you'd expect.
Despite all this it still pulls stronger than it has any right to!!
Can't wait for the new motor - gonna see about fitting a 5-speed Hi-ace box to retain the column shift when the new one goes in.

Hi Barry, sorry for the delay in replying back, I'm hopeless with computers and forums and all the rest. Fanie did mention you a while ago that you live close by, I'm not too far (Klapmuts), but I'm in Stellenbosch regularly, would love to see your car, I believe it was in a magazine article recently.
I have seen only one other V200, it was at a panel beaters in Tenant Street, black with red (I think) interior, stunning, have never seen it again. And then there was also an old banger of a station wagon (green) which has also dissappeared.
My V200 is also pretty much an old banger, but she as so much "houding", I just love it man.
We must hook up some time, cheers.
