Re: CAPE TOWN MEET

Your guys would be welcome to come "maak 'n vleisie warm" at my place - just not sure if we have anything else on on the 7th.
Also, the workshop area isn't too child friendly (although my own kids love it)

Re: CAPE TOWN MEET

Hi all, 6 days to go :D Thanks Barry for the option of your workshop as a venue. Perhaps now we must decide on a venue. Is everyone happy
to gather at Barry's worshop-in-a-vineyard, Stellenbosch, (perhaps not too kid/partner friendly) or do we go for a place like Paarl Rock or out Franshoek way, whats that place Erik?
Pros and cons - if it rains we still stay dry (and throw a wors on the coals) at Barry's place, entrance fees, possible rainy weather, etc, etc at the other venues.
Hennie and myself have no problem where we meet. What about you guys ? Barry when can you let us respectable mob know if your place is free for the 7th ?
Cheers.

For those who are only reading this now : we are trying to get at least 10 Valiants together on the 7th August, you are welcome, your car does NOT have to be a showroom car, it looks like we have 7 cars so far, your showroom car is VERY welcome - lets just meet and greet and hopefully welcome Fanie to the Cape

Re: CAPE TOWN MEET

The place near Franshhoek/Wemmershoek is Hollandsche Molen. But thats pretty expensive - and we're not sure if the weather will hold.

Paarl Rock - I assume you mean up on the mountain? That would be good - I've never put the Val up such a steep one before. Maybe the brakes will hold - but if there is anyone in this group with worse Valiant than mine - then it might be risky.

Perhaps we can meet at Butterfly-world and drive in a convoy to where-ever - if the weather is good enough to braai. If not - we can braai at someones house indoors

??

Re: CAPE TOWN MEET

Hi Erik, all noted re Paarl Rock and the other venue/s. Here is my suggestion, and I think, lets just do this and be done with it.

OPTION 1. We Meet at Butterfly World and drive to Barry's place -
if he is available - he may not be available.

OPTION 2. We Meet at Butterfly World, take a drive along the R44 towards
Wellington, there is a farmstall on the right. We would not be able
to braai there. But, they have a lekker stoep, with lekker views,
they serve breakfast the whole day, also sell pies, etc, etc.
You can also buy a beer (and glass of wine if you want Fanie!).
It is not a fancy ladeeda place, just laid back, and if it rains we
stay dry under the stoep and still have a nice view (of the Valiants
in the car park of course!).

Depending on what your guys thoughts are, I can phone and ask the lady to keep a table for us on the stoep.

Can we also just have a final count of who is coming on Saturday. Cheers 8)

Re: CAPE TOWN MEET

Hi Paul,

Sounds great. What time do you think? 1 pm?

FYI a braai might still be on - since it does not look like raining for the rest of the winter. So I'll put one in the boot (next to the spares) just in case.

Re: CAPE TOWN MEET

OK guys, back from an "interesting" (and expensive!!) CITP trip.
Unfortunately the 7th is out for me, so I'll take a raincheck

Re: CAPE TOWN MEET

Howzit Barry, hope you did'nt have car troubles - or - you bought something "interesting" which was expensive ?????
Cool, thanks for the offer of your workshop anyway, perhaps next time.

Erik, I'm cool with 1pm. The owners of the farmstall will have a problem if we
braai there, there is'nt really a place to make a braai.
But if you're gonna bring the braai anyway, I'm going to bring some wors just in case

So .......................... whos coming ?

Re: CAPE TOWN MEET

I'll be there, the hearse is running again. Just have some sort of intermittent electrical problem with no power going to the ignition switch at times. The fuel gauge also stopped working for some or other reason. :x
So.., we're meeting at Butterfly World at 1pm?
Fanie, please tell us you're coming...
